The Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Channahon Park District recently received a helping hand, well actually a lot of helping hands. Cub Scout Pack 459 pitched in to clean up the tow path along the I & M Canal at McKinley Woods this past weekend. The boys and parents picked up litter and trash along a mile and half stretch of the popular hiking and biking trails along the Des Plaines River and I & M Canal in Channahon. The Cub Scouts provide community service projects throughout the area as part of their scouting duties. Hikers and bikers frequently commented with “Thank yous” and seemed very appreciative that the boys were spending their time on a Saturday afternoon cleaning up the trails used by many Will County residents. The Channahon Park District and IDNR tasked the Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Pack 459 with the effort to help clean the trails that accumulated trash over the winter.

Great job boys — keep up the good work!
