HAWKE OPTICS- SPORT-HD IR SCOPE

I mounted a scope on my deer slug gun in 1986. Back then, scopes were only used on rifles, so I received some funny looks from most traditional open-sight gun deer hunters. Today, scoped slug guns have pretty much become the standard for shotgun deer hunting.

I recently upgraded my fifteen-year-old son’s 870 Wingmaster with a 3-9 x 40 Sport-HD IR by Hawke Optics. Dialed in at 90 yards, the scope fit the 12 gauge pump like a glove and had us grouping consistently within 3 inches at 100 yards. In addition to the variable power, the Hawke Sport HD IR has another sweet feature— lighted crosshairs. With a variety of scopes on the market, I wanted something simple for my son, just a nice sharp set of crosshairs. But the Hawke Sport HD IR took it one step further. It has a control knob on the side of the scope where the shooter can easily “turn on” the lighted crosshairs, and choose between red or green. There is also an adjustment where the shooter can choose the level of brightness, selecting a higher brightness for a bright sunny day, or using a lower brightness setting for overcast days. This feature is especially useful for low-light  hunting conditions like twilight and dusk, or when hunting in dark timber.

My son Kyle killed a beautiful buck on the opening day of the Illinois firearm shotgun season. He was hunting in dark timber on an overcast stormy day, and the lighted optic definitely gave him an advantage. I asked him what he thought of the Hawke scope, he answered “Its’ awesome.” He’s a kid of few words, but I guarantee he will have more deer in the crosshairs in the upcoming days, as the second half of the shotgun season will be here soon.

The Hawke Sport-HD iR Scope has crystal clear resolution and is loaded with all the bells and whistles including:
•    Red / Green illuminated reticle
•    Virtually unbreakable glass etched Mil Dot reticle
