FROG GIGGIN’ THE BACKWATERS OF THE DES PLAINES RIVER

Let’s face it, trudging around in snake and turtle infested swamps in the dark is not everyone’s idea of a good time. But if you want to try your hand at putting some tasty frog legs in the frying pan this summer, that’s what it takes. I took a few newbies this year— my son Kyle, my nephew Matt Hayden, and my seven-year-old son Nathan. If you go, bring a good flashlight (I use a Maglite) and LOTS of bug spray. Snake proof boots aren’t a bad idea either.
